The Big Crash

It all started in October of 2006 when my server crashed. (If you were one of my students at the time, you may remember there was a period of about one month during which you couldn't access any of my websites).

Normally when a server crashes, you can simply restore it using one of the recent backups. However, in my case, all the backups were corrupted.

That's when I learned a new term that is now branded into my brain... "remote backup."

You see, my webmaster had set up my server so it automatically backed itself up. However, he had not set it up to save a copy of the backup somewhere OTHER than on my server (a "remote" backup). And, because of the way in which my server crashed, all the backups on my server were compromised... so there was no way to restore the information on my server.

Although it took a while, since I had the training materials from my various courses saved on my desktop, I was able to recreate the student training areas back to what they were before the crash.

And, for the most part, I was able to restore my membership list... with a LOT of help from my students.

I Lost $15-25k Per Month Income Overnight!

Unfortunately, I had no way to restore my passive income generator websites.

At the time my server crashed, I had dozens of passive income generator websites in dozens of different niches.

Even though I had a spreadsheet with the domain name and login for each website, the ONLY place a "copy" of the content for each site had been saved was (you guessed it) ... in the server's backup files... which were CORRUPTED in the crash!
